The New Stick Game - Episode 4

March 14th, 2018

Today was a fascinating day. We started off and normally with a very easy question, but there was a giant spill and some people stole some sticks. There was a big debate over whether they got “caught” or not.   The law states that if someone gets caught stealing they owe the person that they stole from 20 sticks. But, they get caught up on the word ”caught”. One thief was accusing the other team of not seeing it and having no evidence. Even though it was clear to everyone that this person had actually stolen the sticks, they insisted that they hadn't been caught. A second stick incident involving a different group was also very contentious in that he said he never stole it in the first place. A law was proposed that one representative from each group would be charged with listening to the cases and making a ruling decision on whether the  person accused was guilty or not. This created the first legal system and supreme court for our group. They tried their case and found that both parties had been guilty of stealing and therefore neither owed each other money because they both owed money. Because they were both guilty, they decided to settle. There was also the issue of the Thursday prize. The team with the most money at the end of Wednesday gets to choose from a list of approved activities of what the class does on Thursday. The team that had the most sticks had over 200 sticks. The other teams had only around 30 to 50 sticks. They chose to have a movie shown in the classroom. This group is very bad at being specific. Because they were so vague I think I will choose a very very boring movie to try making them reconsider the way that they give instructions. we shall see. I, however, do want to make sure that the people are seeing this Thursday prize as an incentive to continue playing the game and earn more money, or sticks as it were.
