The New Stick Game - Episode 6
March 19th, 2018
This week was tough to get the kids motivated. I took away their sticks and put them in drawers so that they would stop stealing and running around with the sticks. I mostly did this just to calm down the chaos. They were not happy about this choice. They ended up making a law saying that they could keep the sticks as long as they kept their desks closed. They end up turning in the sticks at the end of the hour and I put them in the drawers anyway just to make sure that none of the stealing happens before after class. They did make some really good laws. They made a law that all the questions paid out 10 sticks. This made it so that all of the answers were equally paid out and nobody got more. This was one of my goals to try to get them to change from the get-go. Only a few students from each team decided to play, so I rewarded those students. Then all of a sudden everybody wanted to play. We will see how the rest of this week goes, and probably do something different next week to do with the real legislative and justice systems. I'm curious to see how this affects the way they play the game after we come back from spring break.
